Heirloom-Quality Amish Furniture
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s the furniture industry in the U.S. moved toward overseas builders and their mass produced furniture.
The Amish however, remained true to their values and thus became the leading U.S. crafters of high quality indoor Hardwood furniture and outdoor Poly furniture. These products are generally all solid wood and feature precise dove-tailed drawers with full extension drawer slides, mortis and tenant chairs, and other quality features. The many design variations are available in oak, maple, walnut, cherry and other American hardwoods, with various stains.
“Poly” is short for High Density Polyethylene, or HDPE, which is made from 100% recycled milk jugs. Poly outdoor furniture has earned a strong presence in the market today because it is attractive, well built, maintenance free and long lasting. Our Amish artisans use eco-friendly Poly lumber to craft everything from the classic, simple Adirondack chair to entire outdoor furniture sets and arbors. Poly furniture is “green,” it is mold, mildew and fade resistant, it doesn’t rot, crack or splinter, and it never needs to be stained or painted. It comes in a variety of colors and can be left outdoors year round.
Because of its craftsmanship, quality and simplicity, “Amish crafted furniture” communicates the sense of heirloom. “Amish crafted” is not a brand, it represents a way of life.
